FR workwear is protective clothing designed to resist ignition, limit flame spread and reduce continued burning after the ignition source is removed. It can reduce burn injury but does not make the wearer fireproof. Garments should be selected according to the workplace hazard assessment, required standard and body coverage.
FR is a general term for flame-resistant clothing. IFR workwear uses fibers whose flame-resistant properties are inherent in the fiber structure, while treated FR fabrics obtain their performance through a durable treatment. Either may be suitable when the finished garment meets the required project standard.
