On June 16, 2026, the European Commission published Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1279, updating the list of harmonised standards supporting the EU Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU) 2016/425. The decision also repeals the previous Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/941, while allowing certain older references to remain valid until their specified withdrawal dates.
For industrial PPE buyers, this update is a timely reminder that CE compliance is not only about having a certificate. Under the EU PPE Regulation, products that comply with harmonised standards cited in the Official Journal can benefit from a presumption of conformity with the relevant essential health and safety requirements. When standard references are updated, buyers and distributors should review technical files, Declarations of Conformity, labels, test reports, and product certificates to ensure they still match the latest applicable requirements.
The impact may be especially important for companies supplying multiple PPE categories into Europe. Even when the product design does not change, outdated documentation can create unnecessary compliance risk during tenders, audits, customs checks, or customer qualification reviews.
For global safety managers, the key action is clear: verify the standard references before placing new orders or renewing supplier approvals. DOMEX Safety will continue supporting international buyers with protective workwear documentation, product specifications, and compliance-oriented supply solutions across FR, IFR, and arc-rated workwear categories. DOMEX’s website already positions its product range around FR workwear, IFR workwear, and arc-rated clothing for demanding industries such as oil & gas, electric utilities, and general industry.
