Not all flame resistant fabrics are created equal.

There are two main categories used in industrial workwear:

    1. Treated FR Fabric

This type is made by applying flame retardant chemicals to cotton or blended fabrics.

    Pros:

    • Lower cost

    • Comfortable feel

    • Widely available

    Cons:

    • FR performance may reduce over time

    • Requires proper washing control

    2. Inherent FR Fabric

Flame resistance is built into the fiber structure itself.

    Pros:

    • Permanent FR protection

    • High durability

    • Better performance in extreme environments

    Cons:

    • Higher cost

    • Slightly stiffer texture

In real industrial procurement, the choice depends on risk level + budget + lifecycle cost, not just initial price.
