2. Manikin Testing (Optional) – Full garments are tested on a thermal manikin to assess burn potential.
3. ATPV (Arc Thermal Performance Value) – Measures the energy at which there is a 50% probability of a second-degree burn.
4. EBT (Energy Breakopen Threshold) – Determines the energy level at which the garment fabric opens or fails.
5. Labeling – Garments are labeled with the arc rating and relevant compliance information.
This process ensures that workers are protected according to the arc energy levels present in their work environment.
Both FR-treated fabrics and Inherently Flame-Resistant (IFR) fabrics can meet ASTM F1506 standards:
